Before starting to write my blog on how to learn English for a beginner, I thought to do a search on the internet.
I found many ideas, a few to mention like one should watch English movies, make English friends, listen to English songs, and go to English-speaking countries could be helpful for some but for the individual who is a beginner, will not be much help.
Is It Difficult to Learn English?
Remember, millions of people around the world have learned the language successfully. In your surroundings you know people, who very well communicate in English. It’s just you didn’t get that environment or opportunity to learn. Or maybe you realize its importance now.
The level of difficulty you face while learning English will depend on your circumstances and efforts. One thing is confirmed. It will not be difficult to learn the language if you put your dedication, your consistence practice, and the right approach. It will give significant progress in mastering the language.
Be a Regular and Serious Learner?
It is inevitable that regular practice plays a key role in attaining the target Doing hard work and getting success are closely related with the thread of dedication and consistent practice. The efforts you put in will be paid only when the learning takes place regularly. Steps for learning the language can be measured by multiple dimensions, but the most important one is regular practice. I would certainly advise to focus on consistency.
Day To Day Sentences
Learning day-to-day communication sentences will be a help. For knowing this, one does not need to go deep into the learning process, but this is good for initial conversation only. Learn to know the basic conversation day-to-day sentences, asking for directions, ordering food, how to greet, how to put a query, how to reply to a query, how to ask something, etc. It will enhance your skill in communicating the manners and etiquette needed. Focus on sentences that you are likely to use in your daily interactions. It will be beneficial though one has to dive deep into learning all mentioned steps to get the ultimate benefit.
Do You Know the Steps to Start Learning English?
I’m writing this considering you as a beginner learner. It is not difficult to learn the language if you follow the right steps.
Let’s understand the basic ideas of the learning process that have helped my English learning students to the extent. Let’s understand.
Each sentence has eight parts. That is called parts of speech. These parts of speech work together to create meaningful sentences and communicate your ideas effectively. By understanding their roles, one can improve their grammar, writing, and communication skills.
Though learning all at once would be difficult, one shall go step by step to understand the basic structure of the sentence.
You can easily get help from the Internet to understand the meaning, using your native language translation of its meaning will be much help to you.
I am not saying that you need a 100 % grip on every part, just a basic know-how with the terms will be a help for you.
Do You Know Sentence Structure?
English sentence structure is the arrangement of words in a grammatically correct manner to convey the right meaning. If the words are not arranged t in a basic manner, the sentence will not make sense. I have shared some examples with you.
SUBJECT-VERB | Sam sleeps. |
SUBJECT-VERB-OBJECT | She likes fruits. |
SUBJECT-VERB-ADJECTIVE | She is confident. |

Learning Tenses
Tenses deepen your knowledge about the sentence structure. It teaches you, every format when you talk about the present, past, or future in any possible time. One cannot imagine learning English without understanding tenses. Mother tongue is all different scenarios. When learning a new language, focusing my topic on English, tenses is a must. It empowers you to communicate effectively and leave a strong impact. This is the bone that helps whether personally, professionally, or academically.
Reading Will Help You
Regular reading will benefit you more than you could imagine. You are a fluent speaker of your language because you have practiced to perfection. Your tongue needs that practice to make you a fluent speaker. When you read, read louder so that you can hear what you read. It without a doubt helps you to build your vocabulary and understand the sentence structure. You also come to know the various writing styles. It will be a building block for a learner to communicate effectively in English. It’s a good idea to pick any school-level reading or comprehension book that you can relate to.
Grammar Is Needed
The part of speech comes under grammar itself. As I already mentioned one needs to understand the parts of speech. For a beginner, the first initial stage demands you to understand nouns, pronouns, verbs, and prepositions. Acquiring this much knowledge will be a support to start making basic sentences.
Build Your Vocabulary
Learning new words and adding them to your speech is a complete art. It needs smart work. Here one needs to train the mind to use the new words in your speech. It is equally exciting as well, as from here you start noticing improvement. A book, newspaper cutting, or magazine will be a help. Pick at least 5 words daily and make sentences using these words. Keep adding new words regularly into your practice. Keep writing new sentences using the words. Slowly you find them part of your knowledge. This is the best way to learn new words and incorporate them into your day-to-day language.
Importance of Making Notes
Making a journal of your learnings is a great help. Write down the words that you learn with their meanings. Use them to make your own sentences.
Focus on Pronunciation
While learning English, the value of reading a word correctly cannot be denied. Using the internet to know the correct pronunciation of words will surely be a great benefit to boost your confidence.
Be Patient and Persistent
Learning a new language takes time. Don’t get discouraged by the slow progress. You may find it challenging, believe me, everyone has to face these challenges. This means it is a part of the learning process to face challenges and difficulties. With dedication and consistent efforts, you will improve your English skills. Remember seriousness in learning is the investment that will benefit you throughout your personal and professional life.
